I graduated from Bretton Hall University in England where I obtained my B.Ed. and moved to Canada in 2010 to reunite my family. I have been teaching for 23 years in special education and primary schools (age 3-11 years) but have also worked with adults who have learning difficulties. I was a qualified Moving and Handling Advisor for Staffordshire Education Authority in England, and contributed towards writing a manual handling guidelines book for educational settings. I feel privileged to have been involved in so many children’s lives and to share in the celebrations of the smallest of steps, and I greatly appreciate this opportunity to be a part of a school here, where I can use the experience that I have collected over all my years of teaching, as well as learn new ideas and methods.
In my spare time I enjoy reading copious amounts of books, playing badminton, exploring Canada, and being able to finally spend time with my family. I am really enjoying learning about Canada and meeting new people and I am still excited to start each new year at MLA.
