I have been working with children for over thirty years. I got my NNEB diploma in the United Kingdom before coming to Canada in 1988. Since then I have completed my Early Childhood Education Diploma and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria. I have worked in various daycares and preschools with children of all ages and abilities. I also worked as a Special Education Assistant in the Coquitlam school district. I was there for fourteen years and worked with children who had a variety of different needs. It was during these fourteen years that I decided to go back to school and gain my teaching degree to be able to do more to help these students succeed. After four years of juggling life, work and family I finally succeeded with my goal and came to teach at Mediated Learning Academy in January 2015, teaching grade 6 and 7’s. I really enjoy working with the students and watch them grow and succeed.
In my personal life outside of school, I have been married to my husband Chris for twenty three years and have two children aged 13 and 10. I spend my time as a glorified taxi driver taking them to their various activities such as lacrosse, ringette, water polo, guides and scouts. I am also a guide leader for my daughter’s guide unit and thoroughly enjoy it.
When I am not playing taxi and have time to myself I like to read, hike and socialize with my friends.
